(June 15, 2007 -- LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY) Thirteen CanAm Sport Horse breeders have collaborated to present the first select sale of CanAm Sport Horse weanlings ever held in the U.S. at the CanAm Sport Horse Classic Showcase, Sale and Futurity, October 19 – 21, 2007, at the Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, Kentucky. Approximately 30 select CanAm Sport Horse weanlings will be presented at the Sale which will run concurrent with the Hagyard's Midsouth 3 Day Event, (CCI*) being run at the Horse Park.
The CanAm Sport Horse weanlings will be available for inspection and review beginning Friday, October 19th, through Saturday, October 20th. There will be several showcase parades of the CanAm Sport Horse weanlings on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park. The sale, by silent auction, will begin on Saturday, October 20th at 4:00 p.m. and will close at 6:00 p.m. Winning bids will be announced shortly thereafter.
As part of this premier offering, the CanAm breeders are also introducing a $3,500.00 Can Am Sport Horse Classic Futurity to be held on Sunday, October 21th. This innovative futurity will be exclusively for the CanAm Sport Horse weanlings involved in the sale. The weanlings will be judged on conformation, manners, temperament, and turnout and shown by their respective breeder/owner. The Grand Champion will receive a $1,500.00 cash award with the remaining $2,000.00 split proportionately among second through fifth place. The cash prizes will be awarded to the new owners of the CanAm Sport Horse weanlings.
Another aspect of this sale will be a "People's Choice Award," whereby visitors to the Kentucky Horse Park and viewers of the CanAm Sport Horse weanlings may select their favorite weaning and cast a ballot. The winner of the People's Choice will be announced on Sunday during the CanAm Sport Horse Classic Futurity competition.
